Qawra Holidays
Qawra, together with Bugibba and St. Paul’s Bay, makes up the largest tourist area on the island of Malta, and offers a comfortable base for couples and families. Developed in the 1960’s, the resort of Qawra is still growing, and stretches from Bugibba along to Salina Bay on the rocky north coast. Qawra is a much quieter resort than its’ more boisterous neighbour, Bugibba, and offers slightly newer, more upmarket accommodation.

Holidays in Qawra – A quiet resort with modern accommodation
The shingle beach at Qawra is a rather narrow stretch, served by a restaurant and a choice of watersports. Neighbouring Bugibba has a selection of beach lidos with good facilities, and close by are some of the best sandy beaches in the area. Just 8km away is the largest sandy beach on Malta, Mellieha Bay – a family-friendly beach, with shallow waters great for swimming and offering a wide choice of watersports. Situated beside the very busy resort of Bugibba, Qawra is much quieter and more exclusive than its’ noisy neighbour, offering newer, much larger accommodation situated along the seafront towards Salina Bay, with many hotels having beach access.

A busy seafront promenade, which links Qawra to the lively resort of Bugibba, is the hub of the resort, lined with numerous bars and restaurants and offering plenty of evening entertainment. There are many English-style pubs, and a good mix of both typical tourist eateries and authentic Maltese restaurants. Qawra has plenty of shops, selling everything from locally made goods to designer clothes, and a huge amount of entertainment in Bugibba catering to the vast number of tourists who visit each year. The bay at nearby St. Paul’s is one of the most picturesque on Malta and the quiet fishing village still has an authentic harbour, home to some great local restaurants and a residential Old Town.
