Pythagorion is a charming atmospheric resort 8 miles south-west of Samos Town on the south-east of the island of Samos. Pythagorion is built on the ruins of ancient city of Samos and is now the main resort on Samos and a popular mooring point for yachts. Despite its popularity Pythagorion remains an appealing colourful destination and a nice base for exploring Samos. Those looking for a quiet spot could visit Mykali beach which is around five miles from Pythagorion. Holidays in Pythagorion can enjoy a selection of boat trips and ferries that leave from the port. Pythagorian holidays offer many excellent walking trails in the interior and it is really worth visiting inland villages for a taste of traditional island life. Popular Pythagorian holiday excursions include the island of Patmos with its tiny churches and St John’s monastery, boat trips to Turkey, and the island capital, Samos Town. Buses connect Pythagorion with Samos Town and Mitilini.
