Holidays in Punta Prima Punta Prima, situated on the southern most tip of Menorca, is a quiet secluded beach resort, popular with couples and families. One of the longest established resorts on the island, Punta Prima still has a fairly traditional feel to it, yet offers a wealth of convenient facilities for holidaymakers. Just 10 km from Mahon, Punta Prima is a very short transfer from the airport, and ideally placed to explore all the resorts in the south-east of the island, including S’Algar, Binibeca and the capital, Mahon.
Holidays for the family in Punta Prima – Award winning large sandy beach The beach at Punta Prima was one of the first to be awarded the EU Blue Flag for cleanliness and quality, and the long expanse of fine white sand is backed by attractive countryside and sand dunes. Although the eastern end of the beach is a little rocky, along most of its’ length the sand gently shelves into the warm shallow waters, creating excellent conditions for swimming and snorkelling. Facilities on offer include numerous beach bars and pedalos, and there is plenty of parking behind the beach. The currents can be fairly strong on this stretch of coastline and the gentle winds make Punta Prima an ideal resort in which to try windsurfing and sailing. Its’ close proximity to Mahon makes Punta Prima very popular with local Menorcans, meaning that, although the beach can get quite busy, the resort has an authentic Spanish flavour. A small selection of shops and supermarkets offer all the basics for tourists, and Punta Prima has a good range of restaurants and quiet bars in which to spend the evenings, and one disco.
Holidays in Punta Prima – Close to the capital Mahon Holidays in Punta Prima mean long lazy days on the beach, and most of the activities revolve around the beach. Mini golf is available and the resort also has some tennis courts. The area around Punta Prima is relatively flat and there are some scenic coastal walks from the resort, either towards S’Algar and Cala Alcafau or Cala Biniancola. The small island, Illa del Aire, a protected area home to unique local species, is nearby and its’ lighthouse can be seen from Punta Prima. Buses run into nearby San Luis, and Mahon, with both towns having excellent local markets. For those in search of more vibrant nightlife, Mahon offers numerous lively bars and clubs.
