Beaches
Various rocky and pebble beaches outside the city dot the Adriatic coastline, with many offering spots for swimming and sunbathing, as well as fishing and scub-diving. One of the best beaches in Pula is Stoja, just a couple of kilometers outside of town and boasting a long attractive promenade, and nearby Medulin and Premantura are windsurfing centres.

Sailing
Sheltered by 3 islands, the city boasts a natural harbour with calm seas, known as the most important port in Istria. Conditions are ideal for sailing enthusiasts, with the harbour an excellent starting point for exploring the blue waters of the Adriatic and its unspoilt coves, as well as the beautiful islands that lie off-shore.

Historical sights
The city of Pula offers plenty to delight the history and culture buff, with its wealth of ancient sights and numerous Roman ruins to tour. Choose from the massive and well-preserved Amphitheatre, the Golden Gate, the Twin Gates and City Walls, the Temple of Augustus and the Chapel of St Maria Formosa.

Recreation
As well as its many historical sights, Croatia holidays in Pula offers plenty to amuse the visitor, from well-designed parks and gardens to lively restaurants and casinos. Activities to enjoy in town include tennis, mini-golf and swimming in indoor and outdoor pools, and the surrounding  countryside offers scenic cycling and hiking opportunities. 

Brijuni Islands
The archipelago that sits just off the peninsula is a must for any visitor to Pula, home to a spectacular national park, with a host of rich flora and fauna. As well as areas of stunning natural beauty, the Brijuni Islands boast numerous historical and cultural areas, including archaeological sites, settlements and ruins, as well as a handful of hotels and luxurious villas.   

Culture
During the summer, the city comes alive with Pula playing host to many important cultural events. The huge amphitheatre, which can hold over 22,000 people, becomes the venue for various spectacular concerts and shows. Events include the Croatian Film Festival, a Theatre Festival, an Arts & Music Festival, a Pop Festival and a Rock Festival.
