Puerto del Carmen Weather

For a spectacular beach resort with glorious all year round sunshine look no further than Puerto del Carmen. This lively resort has one of the best climates in the world and it is not hard to see why the Canary Islands are known as the Islands of Eternal Spring. The weather in Puerto del Carmen is stable all year round and will never usually dip below the 20C mark even during the winter months. The climate is heavily influenced by the island’s close proximity to Northern Africa and on average there will be no more that 16 rainy days per year. With around 2500 hours of sunshine annually it’s not hard to see why a holiday in Puerto del Carmen is a favourite with British holiday makers.

 

The golden sandy beaches at Puerto del Carmen and nearby Matagorda and Playa de los Pocillos are the perfect place to spend long summer days. From May until November the temperature will not usually drop below the 25C mark and the sun will be shining down for around nine hours per day. June, July and August will see the highest temperatures in Puerto del Carmen at around 29C and over. Sea temperatures will hover around the 22C mark making swimming, snorkelling and water sports activities a pleasurable way to pass the afternoon. Evening temperatures will also be warm and are perfect for strolling around the restaurants, discos, pubs and traditional taverns in the old town area.

 

With hot sunny weather all year round it is no surprise that holidays in Puerto de Carmen during the festive period are popular. Temperatures during the winter months will hover around the 21C mark and the sun will be shining down for around six hours per day. Those who prefer slightly cooler temperatures of around 23C should consider a holiday in Puerto del Carmen during the spring and autumn months.
