Puerto Santiago (as it is commonly known) is a quiet and fairly peaceful resort on the southwest coast of Tenerife, offering a great base for a relaxing holiday for either couples or families. Located just between Los Gigantes and Playa de la Arena on the west coast, Puerto Santiago, originally a small fishing village, has blossomed into a modern yet unhurried resort, with a great choice of restaurants and accommodation, and stunning views out across the Atlantic.

The beach at Puerto Santiago, although fairly small, is attractive and composed of the characteristic volcanic black sand of the area. Watersports are available on the beach, and there is a dive school in the resort. Puerto Santiago is a sprawling town, with hotels and apartments scattered throughout the resort, and located on a hillside, with fairly steep streets. The town is home to a large local population, mainly residing at the oldest part of Puerto Santiago, higher up the hill, giving the resort a charming Canarian flavour, and offering tourists a wide variety of traditional restaurants and Spanish tapas bars. Puerto Santiago is full of shops, bars and restaurants, serving everything from Thai to Mexican food, yet offers a much calmer and relaxed nightlife scene than elsewhere on the island.
Holidays in Puerto de Santiago – Take a boat trip to visit Los Gigantes
Puerto Santiago is a fairly traditional and peaceful resort, with most visitors opting to relax on the beach, and stroll through the streets after a leisurely dinner or drinks in the evening. Within the resort are facilities for tennis, squash, bowls and the area is ideal for scenic walks, with golf available within a 30 minute drive. The neighbouring resort of Los Gigantes, famous for its’ giant imposing cliffs, is a short distance away, and boat trips from Puerto Santiago are a great way to see the stunning rocks up close. Also worth visiting is the Blue Flag beach at Playa de la Arena, just south of Puerto Santiago.
