General Things To Do Weather
The Ambience
Puerto Rico sits at the entrance to a wide valley full of rich, lush greenery so it’s a pretty, fresh place in comparison to some of the Gran Canaria drier areas. It was once a small fishing port and, built on steep sloping hills, it is very attractive.

Beaches
Because the island is volcanic there’s no sand. So the resort’s beautiful golden sandy beach was imported from the Sahara to create an ideal, safe, fun playground for adults and children alike.

Tropical Gardens
Set back a little way from the beach, you’ll discover a delicious tropical garden packed with exotic plant life and unreal flowers. If you’re a committed sun worshipper, you’ll love it here. You’ll find two luxurious lidos amongst the gardens, famed for being the sunniest places on the entire island.

Sailing
This delightful resort has a gorgeous, traditional scenic harbour. This comes complete with a famous, well respected sailing centre whose members have won a total of five Olympic gold medals over the years.

Fishing
The seas surrounding Puerto Rico is also renowned for excellent deep sea fishing, and more than fifty world fishing records have been smashed by fishermen departing from the harbour.

Nightlife
Now a bustling, lively resort, Puerto Rico is stuffed with fun night spots including Barbacoa Puerto Rico, which seats 300 for three free shows every night… everything from singers and sound-alike’s to comedians and bands.

Water Activities
As well as sailing, you can have a go at water skiing, diving, pleasure boat cruises, windsurfing, fishing, glass bottomed boat trips and dolphin or whale watching. If you fancy something a bit more hair-raising, try the island’s three exciting water parks. One, the Aqua Park, is in Puerto Rico itself.

Culture
If you want a bit more than just sea and sand, there’s something for you too. Choose from a selection of interesting museums, monuments and ancient buildings, churches and botanical gardens.

Scenery
Inland Gran Canaria is very mountainous and if you hire a car or take a coach excursion you’ll experience some fantastic winding roads, steep valleys and breathtakingly long drops! Apart from tourist beaches, the island offers a wide variety of coastline to explore including magnificent sand dunes, all of which are easy to reach from Puerto Rico.

Golf
Gran Canaria is famous for golf and enjoys six excellent golf courses, with several more currently being built.
