Protaras is famous for its golden beaches and along with the nearby Ayia Napa and Nissi Bay, boasts some of the best beaches on Cyprus. The summer months stretch from mid-May to mid-October and you can expect to soak up around 10 to 12 hours of 30C sunshine per day. If you visit Protaras during July then prepare yourself for 13 hours of 32C sunshine per day. The weather in Protaras is perfect if you are a beach lover, although the rare coastal breeze will sometimes drift in and take the edge from the heat. Protaras receives almost no rain during the summer months and only averages around 40 days per year between December and February. Weather in Protaras - Take a winter sunshine holiday
The autumn and winter months are very popular with holidaymakers who know that the temperatures will be pleasantly cooler but still sunny. You can expect around six hours of sunshine per day with temperatures hitting around 18C, so you will have no problem picking up a winter tan. The island is quieter during this time of year, with many people visiting the inland Troodos mountain area to take advantage of the skiing conditions. If you want to see the island in full bloom and filled with vibrant colours then a visit during the spring is ideal and the temperatures start to rise into 22C mark.
