Praia do Forte Things To Do
Beaches
Praia do Forte boasts 12km of gorgeous coastline, dotted with golden beaches backed by swaying palms. The simple but idyllic beaches are ideal for those looking for quiet relaxation and a peaceful charm, with the resort known for its stunning natural pools formed by the reefs at the edge of the sea.
Eco-Tourism
The resort is the first in Brazil to commit to eco-tourism, with many leisure activities to enjoy, and a host of natural reserves to explore. The 'Projeto Tamar' Sea Turtle Reserve is the town's most famous attraction, with this important environmental project ensuring the protection of the species along the vast coastline.
Nature Reserves
The eco-village of Praia do Forte is surrounded by a number of lush tropical nature reserves, such as the Sapiranga Reserve, home to plenty of exotic flora and fauna, and there are jeep tours to explore the area. Bird-watching for natural species is a relaxing activity, whilst more adventurous visitors can enjoy canoeing along mangrove rivers and lagoons, or trekking through the diverse landscapes including sand dunes and rain forests.
Water Sports
Enthusiasts can go scuba diving and snorkelling in the offshore coral reefs, with jet-skiing, waterskiing, windsurfing, sailing, kayaking and white-water rafting also available.
Sports
Various hotels offer swimming pools, tennis courts, volleyball, fitness centres and gyms, with cycling, horse riding, golf, quad biking and trekking available in and around the resort.
Boat Trips
Fishing (both sea and river) is offered from the resort, and seasonal whale-spotting trips are available from July to October, when the humpback whales appear along the coast of the resort.
Sights
This traditional fishing village still holds plenty of charm, and boasts a relaxed village centre, with local restaurants and simple shops. The local lighthouse and 16th-century Garcia D'Avila castle offer interesting historical sights, and day trips from Praia do Forte include the Pojuca Waterfalls, and the vibrant city of Salvador, 60km away.
