Beach
The beach in Praia da Rocha is understandably one of the resorts most popular attractions. With 2km of golden sand set against cinnamon coloured cliffs, it is one of the most famous beaches in the Algarve. Nearby there are quieter stretches of sand that are less crowded than the main beach.
Water Sports
Given the impressive number of beaches in the area, water sports in Praia da Rocha are well catered for. Diving, snorkelling, surfing and swimming are all popular activities. The more daring might like to try para-gliding; although this is for thrill seekers only.
Deep Sea Fishing
For something a bit different to lazing on the beach try a spot of deep sea fishing in Praia da Rocha. There are many official operators with luxury cruisers in the area who will provide a days fishing for shark, bass and conger. No experience is necessary and a professional crew is on hand at all times.
Shopping in Portimao
The nearby town of Portimao has some of the finest shopping in the Algarve. The bustling shopping centre has the best designer clothes and local hand-crafted goods, as well as an abundance of fine restaurants and cafes.
Nightlife
If you like your entertainment to last until dawn then the nightlife on a holiday in Praia da Rocha will not be a disappointment. There are many clubs, bars and discos around the main beach area, or if you fancy a nights gambling, head to the casinos such as The Vilamoura, Praia de Roca and Monte Gordo.
Golf
Golf in Praia de Rocha is something of a national pastime. This area in the Algarve is famous for its golf and there are well over 20 golf courses in the Algarve. Try out the Penina Academy Course at Portimao, or the more professional can try the taxing Penina Championship Course.
