Portinatx is based in a small modern resort built around a renowned beauty spot on the northern tip of the island of Ibiza, 18 miles from Ibiza Town and 22 miles from Ibiza airport. The attraction of Portinatx lies in the resort’s fine sandy beaches and superb setting between headlands and picturesque wooded hills. Most Portinatx  accommodation is set attractively on the hillside sloping down to Portinatx beach. Portinatx is a suitable resort for couples and families who will appreciate the resort’s relaxed atmosphere and manageable size.

Portinatx has an outstanding stretch of beautiful rugged coastline dotted with small sandy bays and picturesque coves. Portinatx beach is divided into three small bays with fine white sand and beautifully clear water. Spacious S’Arenal Grand is the largest Portinatx beach, while the more intimate and sheltered S’Arenal Petit is next door. A further Portinatx beach is found at Es Port (Playa Porto), a small pretty cove set among pine trees to the north of the main Portinatx beach. Portinatx beaches have plenty of shallow water for relaxed swimming. Portinatx offers excellent snorkelling in tiny coves like Cala Xuclar and Cala Xarraca as well as more organised watersports, including windsurfing and diving instruction. Portinatx offers good walking along the coast as well as the pretty surrounding countryside with its olive groves and almond orchards. Holidays in Portinatx are not complete without a stroll up to the watchtower for excellent views.

Holidays in Portinatx combine a relatively peaceful resort by day with a reasonably lively scene at night, with several pubs and music bars alongside family entertainment in the hotels. Portinatx also offers occasional live music and at least one disco. However, holidays in Portinatx are not really for the young Ibiza party crowd. Portinatx offers a good selection of bars, restaurants and tavernas, with plenty of Spanish cuisine and locally caught fish on the menu along with some pleasant sea views. There is a reasonable selection of shops, a small shopping centre and a Sunday market. Children can enjoy beach volleyball, the waterslide and the bowling alley. Portinatx offers plenty of entertaining excursions, which include a casino night, a water park, glass-bottomed boat trips, Spanish dancing nights, and full island tours. Buses connect Portinatx with Ibiza Town.
