Porra Things To Do

Porra is beautifully isolated, one of only a handful of villages on the peninsula separating the Gulfs of Vecchio and St. Guilia. So it is wonderfully secluded. If you’re after a complete getaway from modern life Porra is perfect, more a few houses than an actual village. Unless you want to, you don’t have to look at anything but sand and sea for your entire holiday! Porra is so small that it doesn’t even have a ‘centre’ – if you want to dine out you’ll need to hire a car or prepare for a delightful, lazy stroll to a local restaurant.

 

Beaches as far as they eye can see… they’re glorious, all with brilliant pure white sand. Try Palombaggia beach, St Guilia beach, Palumbaggia beach and Cala di la Folaca beach. Some of the most idyllic bays and coves we’ve ever seen are only accessible by boat or on foot, so finding your own deserted stretch of paradise should be relatively easy here. Heavenly.

In case you need extra stuff or you fancy revisiting the real world for a bit, there’s always the pretty town of Porto Vecchio. Complete with bustling harbour, quaint cobbled streets, exclusive designer boutiques and shops, smart cafes and very good restaurants, Port Vecchio comes to life at night. The best place to go if you’re in the mood for company, friendly crowds and a laid back feel. Or to spot celebrities…! Porto Vecchio is sophisticated, stuffed to the gills with French TV celebrities and film stars. Unsurprisingly, there’s a lot of very posh yachting there too!

 

Bored of the beach? Batteries fully re-charged? Head for the wonderful Ospedale forest nearby, home to wildlife galore, and a great way to get out of the sun for a bit. Or aim high and head for the stunning mountains to see this lovely place from above, a vivid little jewel forking into the sparkling sea.
