Water sports
The volcanic beaches and warm waters of Playa de las Americas offer a huge choice for the water sport enthusiast, from family-friendly activities to more adventurous pursuits. Choose from jet skiing, banana boat rides and snorkelling to windsurfing, sailing, power boating, paragliding and scuba diving.

Boating
Catamaran rides and sailing cruises are widely offered from the resort, with a choice of boat trips available. From booze cruises and scuba-dive trips to dolphin and whale-spotting excursions, a relaxing trip out on the water is an ideal way to spend a day.


Fishing
Known as one of the best spots in the world for big-game fishing, Playa de las Americas is a great place to try your hand at the sport. The waters of the Atlantic are home to a wide range of fish, including marlin, tuna and hammerhead shark, with plenty of companies offering day trips out for all levels of fishermen.

Golf
Those staying in Playa de las Americas can choose from three courses within a few miles drive. Tenerife is a popular destination for golfers, with eight courses on the island, with its warm temperatures and abundance of sunshine creating ideal conditions for a leisurely round.  

Activities
With numerous activities to try, the resort is ideal for those looking for an alternative to the beach, including amusement arcades, go-karting, bungee-jumping, bowling and tennis. Try horse-riding, camel-riding, cycling and quad-biking, or walking and hiking in the more fertile north of the island. 

Day trips
The many excursions from the resort include trips to the capital Santa Cruz, the Mount Teide National Park, the Pyramids of Guimar and the Botanical gardens and Loro Park in Puerto de la Cruz. Discover some of the quieter bays and coves around the resort, or rent a car and discover the diverse landscapes and picturesque villages of the island.

Theme parks
One of Tenerife's largest family attractions, the Octopus Aquapark, is located in Playa de las Americas, featuring an array of pools, slides and tubes as well as a dolphin show. Close by are also an Ecological Park, Cactus and Animal Park and a Camel Park. Many free buses conveniently run from the resort to the parks.
