Visitors can expect temperatures of around 28ºC in July and August, with fairly high humidity, and it may well reach 30ºC, but a cooling breeze will help keep things comfortable. From early May to late September/early October, Playa de Fornells shouldn’t disappoint anyone looking for a sun holiday with ideal conditions for swimming, sailing and watersports.
Weather in Playa de Fornells – Warm, clear sea, perfect for sailing and watersports
Menorca is known as the 'Windy Island' and the dry Tramontana wind does blow from the north for most of the year, although it is strongest in winter. In high summer it is usually welcomed as it cools the temperature and clears the air. The hills around Playa de Fornells Bay offers protection against the wind, hence its popularity as a harbour, but there is enough of a breeze which, combined with the warm, clear sea (25°C in August and still 21°C in October) make this an excellent sailing and windsurfing destination. With dozens of beautiful beaches on this small island, including lots of hidden bays, if the breeze does get a little strong it should be possible to find a sunny haven somewhere.
