Playa del Cura, located on the south west coast of Gran Canaria, is a quiet resort appealing to couples and families. Set in a small cove just a few kilometers along from the brash resort of Puerto Rico, Playa del Cura is ideal for those looking for a relaxing base, but close to the infamous nightlife and convenient facilities of its’ larger neighbours.

The resort of Playa del Cura is small and low-key, ideal for those just looking to relax in one of the well-equipped hotels or apartments and take in the atmosphere. The beach sits in a quiet cove, with characteristic black sand, and the waters provide safe swimming and paddling conditions. Facilities on the beach are limited, although sunloungers and umbrellas are available to hire. The next beach along from Playa del Cura, towards Puerto Rico, is Amadores, a fairly recent development with a stretch of imported golden sands, apparently from the Caribbean, and clear blue water ideal for snorkelling. Further north from Playa del Cura sits the traditional fishing village of Puerto del Mogan, with its’ attractive harbour, great fish restaurants and streets decked out with abundant flowers.

Playa del Cura is a suitable base for visitors looking to escape the crowds, and there are plenty of good accommodation choices throughout the resort. There are just enough bars and restaurants in Playa del Cura, and a few shops for those essential holiday items and necessary souvenirs. Neighbouring resorts offer a more extensive choice of facilities and with Puerto del Mogan 6kms away and Puerto Rico just 4 kms along the coast, the shopping and dining options are vast, especially with the frequent bus service connecting to these resorts and other parts of the island. Whilst holidaying in Playa del Cura, an extensive array of watersports can be found in nearby Puerto Rico, and deep-sea fishing trips and sailing excursions are popular. For golfers, Anfi, the next bay along just 2km away, is home to a 9-hole course with spectacular views.
