Playa Jandia holidays The Jandia peninsula, on the southern end of Fuerteventura, is a beautiful part of the island, ideal for couples, especially honeymooners, and families looking for a quiet relaxing destination. Separated from the rest of the island, the Jandia peninsula is a nature reserve bordered by an endless stretch of white sand dunes, and home to the tourist resorts of Costa Calma and Morra Jable. The Jandia area is renowned as having the best beaches on the entire island, and is a perfect spot for windsurfing. Since the introduction of a major motorway over the last few years, making the area much more accessible, the Jandia area has developed dramatically, and now offers large hotels and resort facilities to cater for the influx of tourists
Holidays in Playa Jandia The white sandy beach at Jandia stretches along the coastline for 20 km, and at some places is almost a kilometer wide. Surrounded by rolling sand dunes and lagoons, the area is stunning, and home to a variety of protected wildlife and plants. The most popular resort in Jandia is Costa Calma, a favourite with German tourists, on the Playa de Sotavento, where the sand gently shelves into the Atlantic, and conditions are perfect for swimming. The resort is spread out along the coast, and offers a wide selection of large hotels with good facilities. Further south is the port of Morro Jable, a once tiny fishing village and now an up-and-coming tourist resort. A promenade lined with shops, bars and cafes makes up the main part of town, and accommodation varies from charming lodges to elegant luxury hotels. The beach at Morro Jable is Playa del Matorral, a long stretch of white sands, and a prominent lighthouse, once used for shipping, now signifies the start of the nudist section of the beach. Smaller beaches along the coastline are much wilder and less accessible, but can be reached in a 4 wheel drive car or jeep.
Relaxing holidays in Playa Jandia Quiet and relaxing, Jandia attracts those looking for some peace and tranquility, amidst some simply stunning scenery. There are a number of bars and restaurants in each resort, and the nightlife tends to centre around the hotels. Jandia, the venue for the annual World Windsurfing Championships, is a perfect spot not only for windsurfing, but water-skiing, kite-surfing and scuba-diving.
