Playa Fanabe - bustling town with great family facilities
Playa Fanabe on the Costa Adeje in southern Tenerife is a much-loved, laid back resort located three kilometres from the island’s leading holiday hotspot, Playa de las Americas. Visited by families, young couples and older people, Playa Fanabe’s town centre is an intricate maze of narrow streets bustling with boutiques, bars and restaurants. There is certainly plenty to occupy you during a break from lazing on the beach.
Playa Fanabe - several great beaches to choose from
Playa Fanabe beach is wide and sandy, and well served by restaurant and water-sports facilities. Here you can promenade along the seafront, taking in the breath-taking Atlantic Ocean views or enjoy the palm and flower filled gardens of nearby hotels. All types of accommodation are available.
A couple of kilometres west is La Caleta resort and beach, and the luxury resort of Bahia del Duque is only 10 minutes walk away. Meanwhile the mainstream centres of Playa de las Americas and Playa los Cristianos are on the same stretch of coast and easily accessible too. Here you’ll find lively nightlife, busy beach action, and plenty of shops.
Playa Fanabe - no shortage of sporting and sightseeing activities nearby
There are several good golf courses in the area, the nearest of which is at La Caleta, a five minute drive away. Visitors might consider embarking on a dolphin or whale-watching trip, and there are also facilities nearby for horse riding, quad biking and fishing. For some watery, family fun, try the water park, also close to La Caleta. Further afield is snow-capped Mount Teide, the highest point in Tenerife and the whole of Spain. The Teide National Park has information about the island’s geology and history, and you can take a cable car ride up the mountain for fantastic views. Tenerife’s capital Santa Cruz is in the north, and well worth visiting for its culture, food, fun nightlife and shopping. Santa Cruz is a 45 minute drive, while Tenerife South Airport is just 15 minutes away by car.
