Holidays in Playa de los Cancajos Playa de los Cancajos is the main tourist destination on the island of La Palma, and offers a peaceful retreat in a beautiful tranquil setting. Made of fine volcanic sand, which is characteristic of the island, the beach at Playa de los Cancajos has been awarded the European Blue Flag for excellence and with its’ crystal clear waters protected by wavebreakers, the conditions are safe for swimming. There is also a playground on the beach for children. Playa de los Cancajos is known as one of the best places on La Palma to dive and snorkel, and the subtropical waters with their deep coves and tunnels are home to a stunning array of trumpet fish, rays, barracudas and turtles. There are a number of large hotels and apartment complexes in Playa de los Cancajos, many offering half-board options, and a good choice of restaurants, including some highly-recommended fish restaurants. The nightlife in Playa de los Cancajos is the busiest on the island, with a selection of bars and two clubs in the resort.
Holidays in Playa de los Cancajos – Close to the capital Santa Cruz Playa de los Cancajos is just a 10 minute drive, or a long coastal walk, from the capital Santa Cruz, a historic colonial town, with architecture dating back to the 16th century, and great art collections and museums. The city is quite bustling and home to some great local tapas bars and restaurants. Whilst holidaying in Playa de los Cancajos, as well as the wonderful diving opportunities, other activities to enjoy include mountain biking, paragliding and tennis. La Palma is a haven for nature lovers, with scenic hikes throughout the entire island, and a trip to the Caldereta crater, the largest volcanic crater in the world, is a must.
