Plakias is located on the south coast of Crete, an area famed for its high levels of sunshine and high temperatures. Weather in Plakias – 30C summer temperatures
If hot sunshine is a holiday requirement then the weather in Plakias will not be a disappointment. Summer arrives during the month of May and temperatures will begin creeping towards the high twenties. Rainfall will begin to fade during May and by June the weather will be hot with clear blue skies. June, July and August will bring the highest temperatures and 30C is the norm, although 38C temperatures are not uncommon. At 23C the sea waters will be perfect for the numerous water sports enjoyed at beautiful Plakias beach.

The hot climate here means visitors do not have to wait until summer for a sunshine break. Easter holidays in Plakias are popular thanks to the 20C temperatures and eight hours of sunshine per day. October holidays are also popular, and there will be many hot sunny days to enjoy with temperatures hitting a maximum 26C. The winter months will be cooler and quieter and rainfall levels are elevated. Daytime temperatures during the winter can reach 18C and Crete’s south coast does boast the highest temperatures and lowest rainfall levels on the island.
