Pineda de Mar Holidays
Pineda de Mar Holidays – A quieter Costa Brava beach resort
Holidays in Pineda de Mar offer a straightforward Mediterranean beach resort with an appealingly laid-back atmosphere. The town is on the Costa del Meresme at the southern end of the Costa Brava, 10 miles south of Lloret de Mar, 36 miles north of Barcelona and 30 miles south of Gerona airport. Pineda will suit those looking for a quieter traditional Costa Brava beach resort with good public transport to livelier resorts and within easy reach of the fabulous city of Barcelona. Pineda de Mar is the quietest and perhaps most characterful of a string of popular Costa Brava beach resorts that include Calella de la Costa, Malgrat and Blanes. Breaks here are based in an enjoyably relaxed Mediterranean resort with attractive town squares, an 11th century church, some interesting shops and a small fishing harbour. Pineda de Mar offers modest low-key attractions that include bowling and glass-bottom boat trips. Children will enjoy the local waterparks, the dolphinarium at Blanes and further afield, the vast Port Aventura theme park near Salou.
Pineda Beach Holidays – Spacious and sandy
Holidays in Pineda de Mar very much centre on the beach, which extends for nearly two miles and rarely feels crowded. Broad sandy Pineda de Mar beach has calm water ideal for swimming and smaller children. The beach has plenty of cafes and bars but less seafront development than its busier neighbours. Pineda offers a good selection of Catalan restaurants with plenty of fish on the menu and less British and fast food than large resorts like Lloret de Mar. Nightlife here is largely limited to hotel entertainment though there is a single disco near Pineda beach. Livelier resorts like Calella de la Costa or Lloret de Mar offer all the nightlife you would expect from a major Costa Brava resort.
