Phuket Holidays - Party in paradise on Thailand's south west coast
The tropical playground of Phuket is perfect for beach relaxation, pampering and partying. Holidays in Phuket appeal to many different types. The young, trendy crowd enjoy the nightclubs and beaches around the main town of Patong on the west coast. Familes seek out quiet corners and explore the natural beauty of Phuket. And the island also suits couples seeking peace and tranquility as there are many romantic beaches and secluded resort hotels along the coast. Phuket lies in the Andaman Sea and is attached to south west Thailand via a causeway. If you are arriving for your holiday in Phuket from Bangkok, the flying time is around one hour 20 minutes, and the airport is in the north of the island. Accommodation for holiday visitors to Phuket is plentiful. You might choose a luxurious spa hotel with all mod cons, or if you're on a budget find a bijou beach-hut to rent.

Phuket Holidays - Take your pick of spectacular beaches
Phuket holidays are all about beach-worship. For high-octane entertainment and a busy beach culture head to Patong Beach. Meanwhile Karon Beach is Phuket's second largest beach, and is less crowded. Here you will find powdery white sand, sparkling waters and, for those who enjoy snorkelling or diving, tropical coral reefs to the south. Further on is Kata Beach which is backed by stunning mountains and is a favourite with families. North of Patong are Kalim Beach and Kamala Beach, both of which are laid back and tranquil, again with great mountain views behind. Many hotels offer spa treatments so you'll come away from your Phuket holiday feeling pampered and relaxed. Phuket was one of the regions hit by the tsunami in December 2004. Although Kamala and Patong beaches suffered the worst damage, the clean up process has been excellent and hotels have been rebuilt to superb standards.

Phuket Holidays - Scuba diving to banana boating
Phuket has been a diving destination for many years. So if you want to view the island's remarkable marine life, book onto a diving or snorkelling trip during your holiday in Phuket. You can easily visit the nine small islands called the Similan Islands just offshore - renowned for their colourful coral displays and bright tropical fish. Other watersports to try during your Phuket holiday are parasailing, jet skiing or banana boating. If you love the water, make sure your Phuket holiday is booked between November and February as this is when the sea is best for swimming and watersports. The monsoon season starts from August in southern Thailand, when currents often become too strong for swimming.
