Petrovac Things To Do

Beaches
The beach of curving red sand offers a view across sparkling azure sea to the islands of Katic and Sveta Nedjelja. There are some pebbles but it’s excellent for families as it shelves gently down into the water. The Budvar Riviera is one of the most attractive coastlines around the Med with all kinds of beaches set amongst quiet coves, rugged cliffs, pine forests and mimosa.

Water Sports
With its crystal clear water, Petrovac is perfect for snorkelling. There’s also water skiing and all kinds of water sports available here and at other nearby resorts, which are just a water taxi ride away.

Sveti Stefan
For year’s royalty, heads of state and Hollywood stars have arrived at this small but beautiful island either by water bus or across the narrow isthmus from the mainland. Once a fishing village, it is now a chic resort with restaurants, cafés and pink sandy beaches.

Scuba Diving
Complete beginners can learn with certified PADI courses while experienced divers can explore underwater cliffs, wrecks, vertical tunnels and caverns. The warm waters – with visibility from 15 to 35 metres – and variety of flora and fauna should make this an unforgettable experience.

Budva
Be sure to visit the marina and walled Stari Grad, with its narrow marble streets, galleries, museums, restaurants and bars. This small town bursts with life and holds a number of cultural celebrations, including June’s national music festival, the Theatre City festival and a summer festival in July and August.

Nightlife
When the Venetians built the impressive 16th century Fortress Castio, they didn’t intend it to be a nightclub, but it is now. If this isn’t enough, there’s always Budva, with its open-air discos and all-night clubs. Music lovers may like to note that the Petrovac Jazz Festival takes place at the start of September.

Inland Montenegro
From Petrovac the E65 heads directly towards the Durmitor National Park, where, if simply enjoying the wild beauty and the stunning, unspoiled scenery of the lakes isn’t enough, visitors can enjoy horse riding, cycling, mountain climbing, swimming, boat trips, hiking, and paragliding – and skiing in winter. Europe’s largest canyon, at over 50 miles long, the Tara Canyon offers superb views and white water rafting, while nearby Biogradska Gora National Park is one of Europe’s last virgin forests.

Dubrovnik
“If you want to see heaven on earth, come to Dubrovnik.” So said George Bernard Shaw when he visited in 1929. A UNESCO World Heritage Centre, this romantic walled city is less than 50 miles away.

Kotor
You don’t need to be an expert on Venetian baroque architecture to appreciate the beauty of this medieval UNESCO-listed town, Kotor, with its sparkling bay and surrounding mountains. Cars are banned in the old town, but carnivals are not.

Cetinje
Another easy day trip from Petrovac, Montenegro’s former capital looks down from some of the country’s tallest mountains. Cetinje’s palaces and museums are impressive and the views from the surrounding countryside are truly breathtaking.
