Holidays in Palma Nova
Palma Nova, found on the southwest coast of Majorca and just a 30 minute transfer from Palma airport, is one of the most popular holiday destinations on the island. One of the oldest purpose built resorts in Majorca, Palma Nova was developed around a fishing harbour on the western side of the bay of Palma, and now attracts many British tourists every year. Palma Nova is located next to Magaluf, and the two places have gradually merged together, creating one large resort. That said, Palma Nova is quieter than its’ boisterous neighbour and is ideal for young couples.
Holidays in Palma Nova – Sandy beach with plenty of watersports
Palma Nova’s biggest attraction is its’ sandy beaches, of which there are 3 – Son Matias, Son Caliu and the biggest, Palma Nova beach. The beach, with its’ long sweeping expanse of golden sand and clear crystal waters, has been awarded the European Blue Flag for excellence, and boasts a great choice of facilities, including most watersports. The original harbour is still in existence, and although fishing trips are still available, the marina is now home to yachts and tourist boats offering trips along the coast. A pedestrian promenade sits behind the beach, and is lined with bars, shops and restaurants, ideally placed to enjoy views of the sea or just people-watch.
Holidays in Palma Nova – Close to the clubs of Magaluf
Palma Nova has managed to retain a little of its’ authentic charm, with quieter nightlife and a larger number of traditional Spanish bars and restaurants. There is still a vast selection of bars and restaurants catering to the British crowd, including plenty of fast food, and lots of late night bars featuring DJ’s, and, although there are no actual clubs in Palma Nova, the bright lights of Magaluf are extremely close by. Palma Nova offers a huge array of facilities for families, including the largest mini-golf course on the island, ‘Golf Fantasia’, with its’ 50 holes set in tropical landscaping, the giant water-park, ‘Aqualand Magaluf’, a go-kart track and ‘Marineland’, featuring dolphins and sea lions, just along the coastline at Portals Nous. A weekly market is held in nearby Andratx every Wednesday, and the historic city of Palma is a short trip away, for those in search of a little culture.
