Holidays in Palma – Attracting the rich and famous
Palma sits in the huge Bay of Palma, and at the centre is the busy port, its’ harbour filled with yachts and luxury cruisers. With a reputation for attracting celebrities and the very rich (even the Spanish royal family holiday here), the streets of Palma are often filled with the international jet-set crowd, with the city is home to some stunning upscale villas, private homes and 5 star hotels. Although there is no actual beach in Palma, some lovely sandy beaches are nearby and easily accessible for day trips - Arenal, Palma Nova, C’an Pastilla and Cala Mayor are all just a few kilometers away and all offer long stretches of golden sand. Palma itself is a fascinating city to explore, with its’ narrow maze-like streets, and wonderful architecture around every corner. Overlooking the city is the landmark Cathedral, dating back to the 13th century, and other interesting sites to visit include Bellver Castle and the Moorish baths in the medieval quarter.

There is plenty to do and see in Palma, from walking tours and art galleries, to boat trips
and sailing lessons. Shopping in Palma is a favourite pastime, and the city has some stylish designer shops in the famous shopping districts, such as Plaza Mayor and San Miguel, with of course, local leather and lace a great buy. At nighttime the streets come alive with local flavour, with lively Spanish bars lining the cobbled streets. Palma is full of wonderful places to eat, from casual tapas bars serving up delicious regional specialities to elegant formal restaurants, with most locals, in true Spanish style, not sitting down to dinner until much later in the evening. The nightlife in Palma is varied and offers something for everyone, from traditional flamenco bars to sophisticated clubs, such as Titos’, a must for the glamorous party-goer and the place to see and be seen, with its’ wonderful terrace overlooking the Med.
