Palekastro Weather

Palekastro is located on the eastern coastline of Crete, an area blessed with beautiful beaches and an abundance of sunshine. The climate here is typically Mediterranean, meaning long hot dry summers and winters remaining mild at 18C with moderate amounts of rainfall. Peak summer temperatures in Palekastro can head up to and over 30C and rainfall is minimal during the summer months. Hot weather in Palekastro is virtually guaranteed from May until the end of October. Humidity levels are moderate throughout the year making for comfortable days and balmy evenings.

 

May and June are considered by some as the best months to holiday in Palekastro. The hot sunshine will be shining down for around 10 hours per day and temperatures will creep up past the mid twenties. July and August are the peak summer months bringing high 30C temperatures to Palekastro. Chiona beach will become busy with holiday makers relaxing in the 12 hours of sunshine per day and enjoying the numerous water sports. September is considered to have the best sea conditions and the water temperature will be around the 24C mark. As a hot weather summer holiday destination Palekastro will be hard to beat.

 

Although Palekastro does have a high season there is no real off season. The weather here will be warm and sunny all year round with swimming in the sea available until mid November. Rainfall will occur during the early spring, late autumn and winter months. In general, the rainfall will be infrequent and short lived although sometimes heavier during the winter months. Holiday makers looking for warm rather than hot weather should consider the spring and autumn months when the temperature will be around 20C with eight hours of sunshine per day.
