Palafrugell Holidays

Palafrugell Holidays – Attractive market town and pretty beach resort
Holidays here are based in and around the attractive market town of Palafrugell and the nearby beach resort of Calella de Palafrugell, in the middle of the Costa Brava, 30 miles east of Gerona airport. The resort accommodation is divided between the old market town inland and the beach resort 2 miles to the east. The medieval old centre has pretty narrow streets, fine old shops and the 16th century church of Sant Marti. Visitors are excellently placed for enjoying one of the prettiest stretches of Costa Brava coastline and several of its most charming and picturesque resorts. Palafrugell tends to appeal to couples or families with small children.

Calella de Palafrugell Holidays – One of the prettiest Costa Brava beach resorts

Holidays here tend to centre on Calella de Palafrugell, a small relaxed attractive-looking Costa Brava beach resort that tumbles down from the headland of Punta de la Torre. Calella de Palafrugell is a pleasant little resort with pretty traditional buildings, set on a broad bay with rocky inlets and wooded hills. The town's nightlife is a low-key affair with waterfront bars and restaurants in Calella de Palafrugell and a disco between Palafrugell and the beach resort. Breaks here are not complete without walking to the lighthouse at Cap Sant Sebastian for fine views of the rugged coastline. Daytrips can also include easy coast walks to Llafranc and the equally charming beach resort of Tamariu. Visitors to Llafranc are well-placed for visiting the botanical gardens at Cap Roig, the medieval town of Pals and the lovely Gothic old centre of Gerona.

Palafrugell Holidays – A series of tiny picturesque sandy coves

The main beaches are found at Calella de Palafrugell, Aigua Xelida, Tamariu and Llafranc. Calella de Palafrugell beaches are attractive spots with beautifully clean clear water ideal for sunbathing, swimming, snorkelling and splashing around in rock pools. El Canadell and Port Bo Beach are the largest local beaches. Visitors here can make use of the excellent coast path to visit El Golfet Beach at the foot of steep cliffs, and explore the pretty little sandy coves that are typical of the region. Most local beaches have a couple of beach bars or restaurants and picturesque little beach promenades. Palafrugell offers excellent diving along the coast. Buses run from Calella de Palafrugell to Palafrugell and Llafranc and onwards to Gerona and Barcelona.
