Holidays in Olhos d’Agua Olhos d’Agua, situated just 6km from the centre of Albufeira, the busiest region in the Algarve, is a picturesque village that has developed into a major tourist centre since the 1970’s. Originally a small fishing village, Olhos d’Agua has managed to retain its’ charm, whilst offering comfortable and well-equipped accommodation in the large hotels and holiday villages that have developed here.
Holidays in Olhos d’Agua – Explore the coves on the beach Olhos d’Agua, ‘the eyes of the water’, derives its’ name from the freshwater springs emerging at low tide, and the hordes of fish frequently present in the water. The town beach is ideal for families, with safe swimming conditions, and children will delight in the large number of rockpools to play in. The beach at Olhos d’Agua is great for sunbathing, and towards the western end, there are numerous little coves to explore. A fairly recent promenade offers convenient facilities for the beach, and fishing and boat trips are available. Nearby beaches include Praia Maria Luisa, and Santa Eulalia, which tend to be a little quieter than Olhos d’Agua.
Holidays in Olhos d’Agua – A great choice of restaurants Olhos d’Agua is a fairly quiet resort, and is popular with the Portuguese, with a great choice of restaurants in the centre, serving lots of fresh fish and local specialities. There is nightlife in the bars and hotels, but those looking for all-night clubs will be better served making the short trip into ‘the strip’ of Albufeira. The Moorish town of Albufeira, with its’ charming narrow streets, magnificent churches and harbour filled with colourful fishing boats, is an interesting day out. Whilst staying in Olhos d’Agua, there are plenty of activities to enjoy, including plenty of watersports, tennis, and golf, and facilities for horse-riding, scuba-diving, go-karting and ten-pin bowling are all a short distance away.
