Weather in Ocho Rios – Enjoy the Caribbean sunshine
Situated on the north of Jamaica, Ocho Rios really is a tropical paradise. It may be an overused expression, but how else do you describe a destination that’s hot and sunny all year, with superb beaches and rainforests nearby? Temperatures are consistently near 30°C with between 7 and 9 hours of sunshine each and every day. The clear blue sea doesn’t fall below 27°C as it washes up against the soft, white beaches, making this an ideal destination for anyone who enjoys water sports, adventure, spectacular tropical scenery or just the chance to lie back and enjoy a mangosa cocktail while watching a magnificent Caribbean sunset.


Ocho Rios weather – Sun-drenched beaches and a cooling breeze
From July to September Ocho Rios can be hot and humid, with the temperature going above 30°C, although it’s usually made more comfortable by a cooling north-easterly breeze coming off the sea and the sun dipping down behind the mountains in the late afternoon. The most popular time to travel is from December to mid-April when the temperature is a little cooler and there’s less chance of rain. Although rainfall in Ocho Rios is often heavy but over quickly, leaving the town refreshed and the sun shining again. The resort is less crowded in the ‘wet’ season and there may be bargains to be had for those who don’t mind risking the odd shower.

Jamaica is in the Hurricane belt, with hurricane season lasting from June to November, and September being the month with most chance of a storm. Locals say that hurricanes in Ocho Rios are so rare as to be little more than a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and with the weather being carefully monitored, the chances of one affecting your holiday are extremely slim. Without the rain, of course, there would be no rainforest or lush vegetation and the area would lose much of its magnificence. As it is, Ocho Rios is in an area of outstanding beauty where visitors can enjoy sun all year round.
