The sea temperature never falls below 16°C and in August it can reach 28°. Spring is an absolute delight with plenty of warm sun and the flowers in bloom. The long summers last from mid-May to mid-October. Autumns are generally warm and sunny, although there may be some rain and the evenings can be a little chilly. Winter sees two-thirds of the total rainfall, although the rain usually clears up after a day or so and is heavier in the mountain areas. Indeed, winters in Northern Cyprus can still be extremely pleasant with fresh air and five hours of sun each day even in January, the coldest month, when temperatures are still a mild 15°C.
