Watersports
The long hours of sun and warm, clear sea make Northern Cyprus ideal for watersports and visitors will find windsurfing, kayaking, and waterskiing at most hotel beaches. This part of the Med is also excellent for dinghy sailing.

Scuba diving
With over thirty metres of visibility and an abundance of underwater life, as well as reefs, caverns and wrecks (including the oldest commercial shipwreck, dating back to 300 BC), the dive sites off Northern Cyprus could well be the best in the Mediterranean. And for anyone who hasn’t dived before, the warm water and lack of tides makes it an ideal place to learn.

National Parks
Northern Cyprus has one National Park - the Karpaz Peninsula. This area of rolling hills and miles of unspoiled beaches, including the superb Golden Sands stretches out to the north east of the island. It is home to far more green and loggerhead turtles than people, and there are ancient towns, gothic castles, ruins and tombs waiting to be explored.

Horse Riding
Anyone wanting to ride a horse in Northern Cyprus can find stables offering guided tours and lessons suitable for experienced riders or beginners. Visitors can choose to ride along beaches or explore the forests and trails around the Kyrenia hills.

Festivals & Fiestas
All towns hold festivals, particularly in the early summer, providing an ideal opportunity to find out about Northern Cypriot culture, including music, food and folk dance, and traditional crafts. There are also a number of festivals throughout the summer celebrating international culture, such as the International Northern Cyprus Film Festival each May, the Bellapais Music Festival and the Famagusta International Festival.

Walking, hiking and cycling
Walking or cycling through the whitewashed villages, olive groves, pine forests and cypresses of Northern Cyprus is a guaranteed way to forget the stresses of modern life. The Kyrenia Mountains, also known as the Five Finger Mountains, are particularly popular with hikers and climbers, and tours can be arranged for all ages and abilities.
