Friday, 06 June 2008

city breaks in new yorkNew York city breaks are attracting record numbers of tourists, allowing the city to re-access its tourism targets over the next few years. UK visitors to New York in 2007 are expected to be announced at 1.2 million, representing a 7% rise in numbers from 2006.

It is not only UK numbers that have increased; overall New York visitors from overseas have also been on the increase. An expected 5% year on year increase will mean New York attracted 46 million overseas visitors in 2007, meaning that the earlier target of achieving 50 million tourists by 2015 has been brought forward to 2012. The change of target was announced by New York mayor Michael Bloomberg at industry trade show Pow Wow.

It has also been announced that 47.7 million are expected to visit in 2008, with the value of the Dollar against the Pound as a major contributing factor.
