New Year Holidays – Even more popular than Christmas holidays
Taking a New Year holiday abroad is more popular than ever, not just to the holiday resorts of the Europe but also to the more exotic holiday destinations such as Africa, Asia, the Caribbean. New Year holidays tend to sell at full price and New Year holiday offers and late deal holidays are rare. Although New Year holidays are perhaps more popular than those over Christmas (perhaps because of family commitments over the New Year holiday period) prices reflect the demand for New Year sun holidays.

A New Year holiday for two-week holidays and including Christmas is popular
The day of the week on which the New Year holiday falls varies from year to year and as a result, prices for New Year holidays are difficult to compare on a year-to-year basis. This is compounded by the fact that some flights only operate on a limited number of days in the week. If a New Year holiday flight falls on New Year day for example, it is likely to be less popular than a similar flight a couple of days before New Year. Under these circumstances, the holiday operator is likely to sell only two-week holidays, departing on the previous week. The fact that New Year holidays are more popular than Christmas may also complicate both availability and pricing. Perhaps the greatest demand for New Year holidays is for two-week holidays that cover both the Christmas holiday and New Year holiday period. This again is dependant on the day that the flights leave the UK.
New Year holidays - The ideal way to take a break from the cold and rain of the British winter
For many, a holiday over the New Year holiday period is the ideal way to take a break from the cold and rain of the British winter. Those who find the rampant commercialism of the Christmas period and the repeats of the Sound of Music just too much to face can avoid Christmas and New Year celebrations almost completely. Although some non-Christian counties have Christmas and New Year day as a holiday, it is rare for celebrations to be excessive.
New Year holidays – Perhaps the best time of year to go somewhere hot
A beach holiday somewhere hot over Christmas or New Year is thought by many to be the best use of a limited number of annual days holiday from work. This is in part because the bank holidays over the New Year holiday period mean that less of an employee’s annual entitlement is used up. It is also the time of greatest contrast with the weather in the UK.
