Nerja holidays Nerja, located on the eastern Costa del Sol just 50km from Malaga, is a traditional Andalusian town, in a relatively undeveloped part of the coast, with plenty of facilities for tourists and a fairly cosmopolitan atmosphere. In a stunning location, Nerja perches on a majestic cliff face at the foot of the Sierra Tejera, and the town, with its’ long stretches of golden sandy beaches, is surrounded by the beautiful Andalusian countryside. Nerja is also the site of some fascinating archaeological caves, just outside the town, the resorts’ biggest tourist attraction.
Holidays in Nerja – A charming and traditional Andalusian town in the Costa del Sol Nerja boasts 16km of wonderful sandy beaches, with the most popular being the award-winning Playa Burriana, on the eastern side of the resort. Accessible by car or rocky coastal path, this well-equipped beach has watersport facilities, plenty of beds and loungers, and numerous beach bars and cafes. Five other beaches are situated along the Nerja coast, with its’ clear sparkling water perfect for sailing and diving. The old quarter of Nerja is relatively unchanged, with its’ traditional narrow winding streets and whitewashed houses, and visitors can take a horse-drawn carriage tour through the old cobbled streets. Nerja, although charming and traditional, does have a great selection of bars and restaurants to choose from, and this lively town offers a good nightlife scene. Nerja is unlike many of the over-developed resorts in the Costa del Sol, with numerous high-rise concrete complexes, and instead the resort boasts more attractive traditional hotels and apartments, and manages to retain its’ Andalusian character.
Nerja holidays – Visit the fascinating Pre-historic Caves at Nerja Nerjas’ stunning location accentuates the towns’ natural beauty, with the spectacular Balcon de Europa being one of the most popular tourist attractions. This promenade running along the edge of the cliff has magnificent views of the beautiful blue sea below, dotted with white beaches and tiny coves, and set against the impressive mountain range. The caves at Nerja are a big tourist attraction, with their pre-historic remains and paintings thought to be 20,000 years old, and, amazingly, one of the biggest caverns has been turned into a natural theatre and concert hall, the scene of the annual Nerja Cave Festival.
