Naxos Town is the capital and commercial centre of Naxos, an island famous for its white sand and huge beaches. Naxos Town holidays – Long curving beach with soft deep sand
Agios Giorgios beach is the main Naxos Town holiday beach and is to the south of the town. Naxos Town beach (Agios Giorgios) is a long curve of soft sand with an attractive sea wall and tree-shaded promenade that run to the interesting harbour area. The water here is shallow and the sandy beach is broad, making Naxos Town beach a good choice for families. The beach becomes quieter as you walk further south. There is another smaller Naxos Town beach to the north of the harbour. Naxos town holidays offer watersports and windsurfing tuition in a small neighbouring bay. Holidays in Naxos Town can explore the fine beaches further south with regular buses running along the coast.

There are plenty more typical tavernas hidden away among the confusing series of picturesque alleys that wind up the hill past old mansions and flower-decked patios to the 13th century Venetian castle, a lovely peaceful area with a cathedral, an archaeological museum and great views of the town. Naxos town holidays are not complete without an evening stroll across the long causeway to the town’s most famous landmark, the huge 6th century marble frame that stands on the tiny island of Palatia.
