Myrtos Beach
Myrtos beach is a fine example of an unspoilt beach in Crete. This is the perfect beach for escapists who wish to relax in the sun and swim in the tranquil clear blue waters. The picturesque bay is fringed with little tavernas and cafes that are perfect for a daytime or evening drink or meal. A day trip to other busy beaches can include the stunning Vai Beach near Sitia, one of the most famous beaches on the east coast.
 
Sightseeing
Sightseeing in Myrtos can include the famous Minoan ruins at Pyrgos featuring ancient tombs, palaces and houses. The restored church of Agios Antonios and its museum are well worth the short trip. A short drive to the town of Ierapetra means holiday makers can take a boat trip to the beautiful island of Chrissi to relax on the tropical-like beaches consisting of pink sand.
 
Sports
Myrtos boasts a fantastic climate that will be perfect for sports enthusiasts. Water sports along the Myrtos coastline can include windsurfing, canoeing, sailing, fishing, and diving. The surrounding hills are perfect for mountain biking and trekking.
 
Day Trips
Day trips from Myrtos can include the fascinating town of Ierapetra, a mere 10 minutes by car. Ierapetra boasts a beautiful harbour, Venetian castle and an abundance of Blue Flag beaches. Ierapetra is also home to some of the best restaurants, nightclubs and shopping options on Crete’s southeast coast. Agios Nikolaos is another bustling cosmopolitan town located only 30 minutes from Myrtos that should be visited at least once.
 
Nightlife
Myrtos nightlife is relaxed with intimate tavernas and bars located by the beach area that are excellent for watching the sun set while sipping a cool drink. For a wider selection of restaurants, bars and nightclubs take the short trip to either Agios Nikolaos or Ierapetra for a late night out to remember.
