Myrtos Holidays
Holidays in Myrtos – The southernmost village in Greece
Myrtos is well off the Crete tourist trail, though it is popular with Greeks and Crete lovers who want to get away from it all. If you visit, you will be staying in the southernmost village in Greece, facing north Africa and guaranteed warm weather all year round. The village is on the south coast of Crete, 10 miles west of Ierapetra, 30 miles from Agios Nikolaos and 75 miles from Heraklion. Myrtos is a small unspoilt coastal village whose position guarantees a feeling of isolation and peace. The pace here is slow, so its not for party people!
Myrtos Holidays – Quiet relaxed beach resort
Myrtos beach is a simple unspoilt stretch of sand and pebbles with rocky outcrops and beautiful clear water. Again, facilities are low-key. Myrtos nightlife is a modest selection of likeable relaxed bars and tavernas.
Holidays in Myrtos – Good base for the villages of the Lassithi plain
Holidays in Myrtos are for relaxing and perhaps getting out into the surrounding countryside. This is one of the most important fertile agricultural areas in Crete with lots of vegetables and banana and orange trees. Walkers head for the fertile hills of the river valley. Visitors to Myrtos can explore the relatively unknown south-west region of Crete. 10 miles away is Ierapetra, one of the largest towns in Crete with an interesting mix of modern and historic areas and retaining much of its character and charm in the older areas. Other favourite excursions are to the town of Sitia, the palm beach at Vai, the Minoan site at Pyrgos and the windmills and charming Crete country villages on the Lassithi plain.
