Mykonos weather The weather on Mykonos is characterised by a Mediterranean-like climate, with the island enjoying long hot summers and mild winters, with as many as 300 days of sunshine per year. The summer season is the most popular time to visit, when Mykonos experiences an abundance of sunny days and clear blue skies, combined with cooling breezes from the strong winds that blow across the island.
Weather on Mykonos - Plenty of sunshine, high temperatures during summer season Spring sees the beginning of the season on Mykonos, with temperatures during April and May ranging from 17C - 20C, and the island receiving between 8 and 10 hours of sunshine a day. Mykonos does experience a strong wind during the spring, known as the 'sirocco', which travels from the desert to the east of the Mediterranean, bringing with it sand in the form of 'red rain' to the island. June and July sees the temperature rise to the mid 20C's, with August highs averaging at 27C, and often reaching the low 30C's. These high temperatures are made all the more bearable by the 'meltemi' wind that blows from the north, strongest during the height of the summer.
Mykonos weather - Mild winters, and ever-present winds Temperatures during the autumn months drop to between 18C and 20C, with the sun shining throughout most of the season, and the days still dry. Winter sees lows of 12C, with an average temperature of 15C, and during these months the island receives the most rainfall. The wettest months tend to be February and March, with the mild winter months still seeing plenty of sunshine, together with strong gusty winds from the south.
