Holidays in Moncarapacho Moncarapacho, in the Eastern Algarve, is an unspoilt village located between Faro and Tavira. Set in some stunning countryside against the St. Miguel Mountain, this rural village offers views of the wonderful landscape full of citrus groves, pomegranate, fig and almond trees, and is home to some lovely private villas and country-house hotels.
Holidays to the sandy beaches of Moncarapacho in the Eastern Algarve Although a few kilometers inland, Moncarapacho is close to some of the lovely sandy beaches of the eastern Algarve, easily accessible from the village. Sitting on the edge of the Ria Formosa National Park, a huge expanse of protected wetland area on the coast, the beaches of the area are on local sandbanks, accessible by ferry or trains. The closest beach is at Fuseta, a traditional fishing village where the boats still bring in the catch of the day, and local water-taxis ferry passengers across the lagoon to the beach with its’ white sands, backed by plenty of beach bars and cafes. Also close to Moncarapacho is the attractive town of Tavira, set on the banks of the River Gilao, and famous for its’ ruined castle and Roman bridge. From here a ferry takes passengers to the lovely unspoilt beach of Isla de Tavira, also reached by train from the village of Pedras del Rei.
Holidays in Moncarapacho – Peaceful and relaxing The peaceful area of Moncarapacho offers a quiet relaxing base for a holiday, and the village centre, with the medieval church at its’ centre, offering convenient amenities such as supermarkets, great restaurants and bars, even a cyber-café, and its’ own museum. There are plenty of golf courses within the area, with the championship Quinta de Cima and the largest course in the eastern Algarve, Benamor, nearby. Other activities to enjoy whilst holidaying in Moncarapacho include cycling, horse-riding, walking and hiking, with the Rio Formosa National Park a great location for birdwatching. Nearby towns offer an interesting day trip, including the Moorish town of Olhao, with its’ fantastic fish market and Estoi, home of the famous Roman ruins.
