Monastir Weather - A perfect year round beach destination
Monastir and its neighbouring northern coastal resorts follow a typical Mediterranean climate of low rainfall, hot summer sun and mild winters. Weather in Monastir is relatively stable and settled for most of the year, yet occasionally suffers extremes with rare heavy downpours and very intense heat. Pleasant sea breezes are enjoyed throughout the day and humidity is seldom high. Monastir weather remains bright and sunny into autumn and winter with a higher likelihood of rainfall but compared to many other Mediterranean resorts, remains moderate. Wintry conditions such as snow and frost are virtually non existent at sea level even during mid winter.

Throughout summer the climate follows a predictable pattern of perfect sunny skies and exceedingly low rainfall. On the rare occasions of wet weather it tends to be thundery outbursts that are soon over. Monastir holidays should not be overly inconvenienced by wet weather during the summer period and the vast majority of days will be fine and dry from dawn until dusk. On isolated occasions hot, dry Sahara winds bring excessive heat to Monastir weather producing temperatures of up to 45c. July and August should see a seasonal average of 32c and up to 12 hours of daily sunshine.

As the sun's power recedes during autumn and into winter, clear skies continue unabated and temperatures become more bearable for the majority of visitors. In fact Monastir receives a high number of low season visitors for this exact reason allowing for more comfortable water sports and sightseeing. Monastir weather has a more frequent pattern of rainfall although the chance of whole days being washed out is fortunately rare. Temperatures range from 12c in January up to 21c in April and at least 5 hours of sunshine should be experienced on any given day in winter.
