Airline of the year Monarch has reached £1 million worth of online sales using PayPal. When PayPal was first introduced by Monarch last year, it became the first European airline to do so.

Monarch Airlines Under Pressure To Reinstate Granada-Gatwick Route - Fri. 30 Nov. 2007
The ‘Granada-Gatwick Petition Group’, a group of more than 630 customers, is urging Monarch Airlines to re-think its 4th November withdrawal of a seemingly popular Granada to London Gatwick route. The group argues that the route did not suffer from low passenger demand and should be re-instated, whilst the official stance from Monarch is that “demand has not met expectations”, even though passengers have reported that the flights have invariably been close to full.

Monarch Airlines is to profit from Kenya specialist, African Safari Club withdrawing Gatwick service via its in-house airline African Safari Airways from November. African Safari Club will instead employ the weekly Monarch service from the UK to Mombasa which will allow African Safari Airways to "better serve its European gateways".

FlyMonarch Introduce PayPal - Mon. 22 Oct. 2007
FlyMonarch the cheap flights carrier has introduced the option to use PayPal to purchase tickets on its website FlyMonarch.com. The move by FlyMonarch, named leisure airline of the year, is said to be the first of its kind as no other European airline offers PayPal as an alternative to debit and credit card transactions.
