Mojacar, situated on the Costa de Almeira, is a charming and traditional Moorish village, offering a wide range of tourist facilities for families and couples in search of a relaxing beach holiday. A great choice of water sports is available in Mojacar, including water-skiing and jet-skiing, with the crystal-clear waters perfect for snorkeling and diving. Plenty of beach bars and local ‘chiringuitos’ offer much needed refreshments, including delicious traditional lunches of fried fish. Mojacar Playa offers a wide selection of accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets, from modest townhouses to luxury villas, and boasts a great choice of bars and restaurants down on the front and in the port. The old Arab town of Mojacar, known as the ‘pueblo’, is full of charm, and the ideal place to wander round and explore, stopping off at the many shops and tapas bars.
Mojacar holidays – Visit the Cabo de Gata nature reserve or the Tabernas desert
The resort of Mojacar is a mixture of old and new, offering up-to-date facilities in a beautiful ancient setting. Activities include sailing, mountain-biking and golf, and the nearby Cabo de Gata, a natural reserve and a favourite spot for bird-watchers, offers plenty of cliff-top walks. Villages close to Mojacar include Garracha, a traditional fishing village known for its’ wonderful seafood restaurants, and Vera, home to a water park. Film buffs should take a trip into the Tabernas desert, where countless spaghetti westerns have been filmed, and now is the site of two Wild West theme parks.
