Beaches
At least a dozen terrific, wide, soft sandy beaches are within reach of the city. Choose relaxing family beaches for quiet sunbathing or the famous city beaches for people watching, glamour and a party atmosphere. Miami beaches all boast superb sand, gloriously blue water and famous Florida sunshine. Quieter family beaches to the north of Miami include North Shore Open Space and the charming neighbourhood beaches of North Miami Beach. Southern beaches like Virginia Key and Hobie Beach have superb views of Miami and are popular with windsurfers. Great promenade walks and dunes on Miami Beach. The most famous Miami beach is South Beach, the best place to watch fashionable Miami at play. Tremendous fun.

Art Deco District
A delightful area featuring charming, pastel-coloured buildings and stylish hotels built in the 1920’s and 1930’s. Wonderful period details, glamorous bars and swimming pools. Superb 1930’s Art Deco hotels on Ocean Drive and Collins Avenue were popular with Hollywood stars of the era. Opulent mansions like Casa Casaurina, the former home of Gianni Versace. Admire the neon lights at night from the beach and enjoy the sultry atmosphere. Visit the Art Deco Welcome Center, browse South Beach boutiques and sample the restaurants.

Little Havana
A fascinating neighbourhood in the very heart of Miami, bursting with character thanks to Miami’s huge Cuban population. Charming local stores, old-fashioned cafes and authentic Cuban restaurants with a wonderful atmosphere. Older Cubans smoke hand-rolled cigars and play dominos in Domino Park. The last Friday of the month is particularly lively in terms of music and culture.

Museums & Attractions
Miami museums are particularly popular with families, offering plenty of entertainment for children of all ages. The Seaquarium features spectacular live shows with killer whales. The Dolphin Research Center takes a more serious approach. Miami MetroZoo is one of the finest in the USA. The Miami Science Museum is a great example of the modern-day “hands-on” approach. The Space Transit Planetarium has laser light shows. The Wildlife Center features reptiles and birds of prey. The Miami Children's Museum is an interactive paradise for kids.

Nightlife
Miami nightlife is legendary. Part of the fun is simply watching the scene, spotting celebrities and sampling a little of everything, from one-off parties to Art Deco hotel bars and non-stop clubbing. Miami nightlife offers a sophisticated choice of eclectic restaurants, wine bars, cocktail bars, live music venues and stylish nightclubs. Look out for live jazz and salsa. The best of Miami nightlife starts after midnight and goes on until the early morning. Don’t miss the scene at glamorous South Beach.
