Water sports Warm weather, clear seas and quiet beaches make Menorca a popular place to indulge in some water sports, with the popular beach resorts offering facilities for water-skiing, parasailing, canoeing and banana boat rides. Known as 'the windy isle', conditions on the coast are also ideal for windsurfing and kitesurfing, especially in Fornells.
Scuba-diving The island, with its rugged coastline and crystal-clear waters, also offers some impressive scuba-diving opportunities. Boasting some of the best diving in the western Mediterranean, Menorca is home to more than 15 dive schools and centres, offering everything from beginners instruction to PADI certfication.
Sailing and boat trips The stunning coastline of this small island, with its unspoilt coves, hidden beaches and impressive cliff faces, is ideal for exploring by boat, and there are plenty of trips available, whether you choose a short harbour trip in a glass-bottomed boat or a taste of the high life on a private yacht charter.
Horse-riding Capture the natural beauty of Menorca on horseback, by visiting one of the many equestrian centres and riding schools found there. The island is covered with many country paths and tracks, perfect for horse-riding, with the old bridle path the 'Cami de Cavalls' which runs around the entire coastline, being a favourite trail to follow.
Walking and cycling Menorca is home to some specific hiking routes and paths that show off the beauty of the rich green landscape, taking in nature reserves and offering stunning views. Being relatively flat, the island is a favourite with mountain bikers, and offers a host of trails for both speed freaks and leisurely cruisers.
Sights Visit the fascinating capital, Mahon, home to one of the largest natural harbours in the world. The city is a delight to explore, offering charming waterfront bars and restaurants, vibrant shops and markets and a distinct British flavour. Don't miss a trip to the unique Caves of Xoroi, a stunning nightclub set deep in the natural caves overlooking the sea, the quaint old town of Cuitadella or the stylish marina at Fornells, home to some fantastic fish restaurants.
Fiestas During the summer months, the towns and villages of Menorca play host to the traditional fiestas of the island. From June to September, there are major celebrations throughout the island, with beautifully groomed horses playing an important role in the proceedings, and featuring in processions, displays and games, as well as the obligatory feasts, dancing and fireworks.
