Meloneras Weather
Weather in Meloneras - A year round sun kissed resort
Meloneras is located in the south of the island which is one of the driest parts of Gran Canaria. This results in 300 days of sunshine and warm temperatures all year round. Although hot and sunny throughout the summer months, it is rarely stifling due to the occurrence of North East trade winds bringing cooler air. Just a few degrees separate average temperatures between the summer and winter seasons making Meloneras weather the perfect antidote to a cold and grey British winter. In fact it is an incredibly popular winter destination with UK visitors. Rainfall is very rare during summer months and even in winter is generally brief although it can be heavy at times. Throughout the year cooling coastal breezes are evident providing a rewarding time for wind surfing, however on some days it makes swimming problematic.
Meloneras Weather - Hot and sunny summer days guaranteed
The average day in summer is characterised by clear blue skies, light breezes and hot sunshine. Rainfall is a rarity in summer and holidaymakers can expect to enjoy around 10 hours of sunshine and comfortable temperatures of 26c. Each summer sees the emergence of a hot and dry sirocco wind which can result in very hot temperatures reaching 38c for a limited period. With it comes sand from the Sahara which can reduce visibility and make sunbathing a little uncomfortable. When venturing into the interior countryside, it will feel hotter and drier due to lack of wind and all the usual precautions should be taken. Nightfall sees temperatures dip slightly but revellers can still enjoy a balmy 20c on a night out in summer. A late night stroll along the beach may feel a little chilly as sea breezes can get strong after dark.
Weather in Meloneras - The perfect winter break destination
Winter weather in Meloneras is no less agreeable with fine and bright sunny days for much of the time. The ideal winter sunshine break destination, Meloneras enjoys daytime temperatures that rarely dip below 20c even in December and January. At least 6 hours of daily sunshine should be enjoyed. There is a likelihood of rainfall between December and March with January and February the wettest months. However rainfall is usually brief followed by a short spell of cloudy weather in Meloneras. At this time only around 5 days a month will see any wet weather. Even in mid winter the nights are still mild and comfortable at around 15c.
