Matagorda – Great for windsurfers
Matagorda, near Lanzarote airport on the outskirts of Puerto del Carmen, is a great spot for a relaxing summer or winter holiday. It is good for windsurfers with a small sandy beach with favourable winds and fast-running tides (swimmers beware). You can take lessons locally windsurfing school.

Matagorda – Lots to do in the area
Matagorda has many opportunities nearby including the beautiful, upmarket marina at Puerto Calero, a few miles to the west, where it is possible to hire motorboats or take a catamaran to the beaches of Papagayo.

Matagorda – Relaxing but close to the action
Although Matagorda is quieter compared to some other resorts in the area there is a good range of shops, bars and restaurants. Those seeking a livelier environment when staying in Matagorda can visit Puerto del Carmen, only a couple of miles away. To the east of Matagorda, the island’s capital Arrecife is good for shopping with its boutiques and fashionable stores selling a wide range of duty-free goods. Matagorda’s centre has lots of restaurants offering a broad range of food including paella, steaks fish, live lobsters, crabs and shellfish as well as international dishes.
