The beach at Maspalomas stretches for 6km, and is backed by the stunning sand dunes, which separate the resort from Playa del Ingles. The dunes have been declared a protected wildlife sanctuary, with various rare plants, and creatures such as lizards and rabbits, making their home in the sand and lagoon near the sea. With some of the dunes reaching almost 50 feet in height, the area is a great spot for secluded sunbathing and is popular with nudists, accessible only by foot, or by camel. For those seeking a more traditional place to sunbathe, the lovely sandy beach at Maspalomas has facilities such as sunbeds and umbrellas, and was awarded the European Blue Flag award for cleanliness. The resort has a wide range of low-level accommodation complexes, including some smart hotels, and a couple of shopping centres to provide all the holiday essentials.

Holidays in Gran Canaria – Take a ride on a camel
The atmosphere in Maspalomas is relaxed and low-key, with local bars, some with live music, and a good choice of restaurants along the front. For those in search of wilder nightlife, Playa del Ingles is only 2km away. There are plenty of tourist attractions near Maspalomas, including two waterparks, the Holidayworld amusement park, a Wild West theme park and a unique aboriginal theme park. Other activities to enjoy whilst holidaying in Maspalomas are watersports, golf (the resort is home to the islands’ largest golf course), and camel rides across the sand dunes.
