Marsalforn, situated on the north coast of Gozo, is a popular destination with both tourists and locals alike, and is has developed from a sleepy fishing village into the largest resort on Gozo. With a good number of hotels and apartments, and plenty of bars and restaurants, Marsalforn is a well-equipped lively resort during the summer months, and is known as an excellent spot for scuba-diving.

The small crescent-shaped bay at Marsalforn has a rocky beach and a sandy bank by the harbour, both of which tend to get quite crowded. All along the coastline, the waters are safe for swimming, and the area is well-known as a fantastic snorkelling and diving area. The little harbour at Marsalforn still sees fishermen bringing in the catch of the day, and the colourful fishing boats and the waterside cafes add to the resorts’ charm. A scenic promenade leads from Marsalforn along the coastline to the smaller quieter resorts of Qbajjar and Xwejni, where saltpans dating back to the 18th century are set into the rocky shoreline, and still used by locals today to make sea salt.

Accommodation in Marsalforn ranges from self-catering apartments to hotels, with a number ideally located down on the seafront. Although the resort is relaxed and has retained its’ traditional atmosphere, Marsalforn can get fairly lively during the summer months, with the cafes and bars filled with plenty of local Gozitans and Maltese, and the resort has a good selection of restaurants, most down by the harbour, specialising in fresh fish. Diving and watersports are popular pastimes in Marsalforn, and there are boat trips around the island and out to neighbouring Comino.
