Marrakech weather The city of Marrakech, which lies at the foot of the Atlas Mountains in the southwest region of Morocco, enjoys sunny weather all-year round, with hot summers and mild winters. With a sub-Sahara climate, the summers can experience very extreme temperatures, with day and night temperatures varying considerably. The city sees distinct season changes, with the average annual temperature for Marrakech being 18C.
Weather in Marrakech - Pleasant sunny days in spring, hot summers Springtime generally sees temperatures ranging between 15C and 20C, with the period between March and June being the best time to visit. Conditions are extremely comfortable and it is the ideal time to tour the city, as after this the summer temperatures begin to rise. The highs of 23C in June reach an average of 27C in July and August, with extreme temperatures not uncommon, sometimes as high as 38C. Humidity is high throughout the summer, however during the height of the July and August the levels can become particularly uncomfortable. Throughout these months Marrakech experiences 11 hours of sunshine every day, with minimal rainfall. The nighttime temperature drops considerably, thanks to the citys' close proximity to the desert, dipping down to an average of 15C.
Marrakech weather - Wetter winters, but mild temperatures September and October still see between 8-10 hours of sunshine each day, and cooler average temperatures of 20-24C, with medium levels of humidity. In November the temperature drops to 16C, with lows of 11C and 12C in December and January, and much colder nights. Rainfall increases in the winter, with November and March being the wettest months, seeing an average of 36mm of rain, with heavy downpours not uncommon during the season. During January and February the Atlas Mountains see snowfall, even accommodating skiers, with winds blowing down from these mountains helping to create the lower temperatures and changeable weather.
