Weather in Marmaris – Long hot summers and short mild winters
One of the most popular and well-known tourist resorts on the Turkish coastline, Marmaris boasts a typically Mediterranean climate, with long hot summers and short mild winters. Located on the Lycian coast, in the southwest region of the country, the resort enjoys plenty of blazing Turkish sunshine, and a long holiday season that runs from April to October.
Marmaris weather - Plenty of summer sunshine
Marmaris experiences daily summer temperatures ranging between 25C - 30C, and as much as 14 hours of glorious sunshine each day - making it ideal for a beach holiday with plenty of swimming and sunbathing. June sees the beginning of the very hot weather, with average temperatures of 25C, and thanks to a water temperature of 23C, the resort and its beaches become busy with tourists. Conditions get increasingly humid as the summer progresses, and there is very little rainfall at this time - around 17mm during the month. Early summers in Marmaris enjoy a minimum of 13 hours of daily sunshine, and with night-time temperatures reaching 18C, the evenings are long, dry and warm - ideal for dining out, strolling around the bars and experiencing the famous nightlife. By July and August, the days can see highs of between 29C and 34C, 14 hours of sunshine and a sea temperature of 25C - great for swimming, water-sports and scenic Blue Cruises along the coast. Rainfall is extremely unlikely, and humidity is at its highest in this peak season, with the beaches the place to be all day. September still sees lovely hot weather, with slightly lower temperatures of 25C, 12 hours of sunshine and reduced humidity.
Weather in Marmaris - Good for an early or late-season holiday
For those looking for plenty of warm weather and guaranteed sunshine, an early or late season getaway to Marmaris could be just the thing, as the temperature hovers around 18C - 20C and the resort basks in a minimum of 9 hours of sunshine each day from April to October. The sea is still warm at 25C, and there's no humidity during these low season months, so the days are far more comfortable, with limited rainfall - October seeing the chance for more rain, receiving up to 78mm. Temperatures drop in November, with January, the coldest month, seeing averages of 11C - 13C, and the winters remaining mild but wet, receiving as much as 235mm of rain during December, the wettest month of the year.
