Marina Resort Things To Do
Beaches
The resort has a choice of perfect sandy beaches and a beautiful emerald lagoon sheltered by coral reefs, while the magnificent Grand Baie is just minutes away. But it would be criminal to ignore the island’s other beaches. Go west for incredible sunsets, south for surf and anywhere for pure white sand and sea in more shades of blue than we have words to describe.
Water Sports
All kinds of activities are free on a holiday in Marina Resort, including windsurfing, sailing, glass bottomed boat rides, kayaking and snorkelling. There’s also a kids’ pool, a large pool and a Jacuzzi. Paid-for sports include water skiing, kite surfing, deep sea fishing and diving.
Other Activities
Choose from tennis, beach volleyball, French bowling, table tennis, electronic games, snooker and bike rental. There’s also a children’s club with entertainment.
Wellness Spa
When you’re exhausted from all the activities on offer there’s always the wellness spa with its massage parlours, body treatments, steam bath and hydro massage to restore balance to your body and soul.
Diving
With its own dive centre, with PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainers, and clear sea with temperatures between 22ºC and 28ºC, this is a perfect place to learn, gain experience or enjoy more challenging dives at any time of the year (although the water’s clearest from December to March). The coral reef is spectacular and the marine life ranges from sponges and anemones to clown and scorpion fish to stingrays and marlin.
Golf
The game has really taken off here and there are hotel and country clubs with manicured greens to match almost any in the world, but with incredible mountain and sea views to remind golfers they are in a tropical paradise.
Deep Sea Fishing
The best season is October to April, particularly for marlin, but there’s sport to be had any time of the year. Records are broken here but the fish are not just big but there’s a huge variety, including sailfish, blue and black marlins and several species of shark.
Entertainment
The resort has live music and cabaret in the evening and a Sega (traditional music and dance with an infectious rhythm) show each week.
Sightseeing
"God first made Mauritius and from it, He created Paradise." - Mark Twain. The island is just over 40 miles long and a little fewer than 30 wide and the resort can help with car hire as well as trips and excursions. There are beautiful uninhabited islands that can be seen from the resort. Travelling south the flat land is replaced by gorges, waterfalls, volcanic peaks, plantations and the central plateau. And don’t forget the 100 miles of incredibly beautiful coastline.
Port Louis
Visit the island’s busy capital and main harbour since it was rebuilt by the French in 1735, for duty-free shopping, the covered market, the museums and old colonial buildings, the atmospheric Chinatown, the casino and the splendid view from Fort Adélaide.
